After the basic product order edits, we will continue to the more advanced types of product order editing. There are three advanced product order editing functionalities:
- Reset
- Rework
- Upgrade
Here’s how they work:
Reset #
What is Reset? #
Did your operator commit a mistake when using a work instruction? Or are you not satisfied with their answer on a product check? And do you want an operator to re-do the entire work instruction from the beginning? Then, resetting your work instruction is the answer.
By resetting a work instruction, you are deleting all recorded data associated with it. All data recorded when any of your operators are using that work instruction (e.g., answers to checks, time spent working on an instruction step, etc.) will be deleted permanently.
Afterward, all of your operators can use that work instruction again from the start.
Using reset is useful if one of your operators committed a grave error and you would want all data associated with that error to be removed for good.
How to Reset a Work Instruction #
- Click on Quality Management in the homepage sidebar and select “Product orders”.
- Select the targeted product order, and click on it.
- Select a work instruction that has been completed (represented with a green check icon) or is currently in progress (represented with a yellow clock icon).
- Click the three-dot icon next to it.
- Select “Reset”.
- Click on “Reset” again.
Rework #
What is Rework? #
Reworking a work instruction allows you to clear all of the previously recorded data associated with a work instruction. Thus, your operators can re-use a work instruction and input values from scratch. However, the previously recorded data have not been deleted, and you can still access them anytime in the future.
Hence, your operators can still reuse that work instruction and input new values to it while all recorded data from previous uses of that work instruction are retained.
Using rework is useful if you would like to use your operators’ past performances as a benchmark for future improvements.
How to Rework a Work Instruction #
- Click on Quality Management in the homepage sidebar and select “Product orders”.
- Select the targeted product order, and click on it.
- Select a work instruction that has been completed (represented with a green check icon).
- Click the three-dot icon next to it.
- Select “Rework”.
- Click on “Rework” again.
Upgrade #
What is Upgrade? #
Upgrading a work instruction is updating a work instruction on an already existing product order.
An upgrade can only be done on a product order that is active.
Note: An upgrade can only be done when the applicable work instruction is not yet filled in for the product order. If a work instruction has been filled by an operator, then you should first reset it, and then upgrade it.
