What Is a Peripheral Preset? #

In Azumuta, a peripheral device-supported product check can be configured extensively to meet your shop floor needs. However, configuring a product check takes some time, and manually setting up product checks across multiple instruction steps and devices can be exceptionally time-consuming.

What if there’s a way where you only need to configure things once, save these configurations, and then reuse them again in the future?

Peripheral presets are the answer to that. A peripheral preset is a peripheral device-supported product check configuration that has been saved and can be reused again perpetually. That way, you don’t have to manually configure it each time you would like to use it on an instruction step.

Note: Creating a peripheral present is optional. You can still use peripheral devices with Azumuta without peripheral presets.

How to Create a Peripheral Preset #

A peripheral preset is tied to a peripheral device. Therefore, before creating a peripheral preset, make sure that you’ve integrated that peripheral device into your workspace.

With that being said, here’s how to create a peripheral preset:

1. Click on “Peripherals” under “Management”.
2. Click on the “Presets” tab.
3. Click on the yellow plus button.
4. Fill in the existing fields as desired. We will provide an explanation of the existing fields on the image under the video.
5. When you’re done, click on “Add”.

The image below shows the available configuration fields on a peripheral preset. You can click on the image to enlarge it:

1. Type the peripheral preset’s name in this field.
2. Select the plugin type. Each peripheral device has its own specific plugin. To get a plugin for your peripheral devices, please contact us through our support@azumuta.com email address.
3. Select the product check type. The list of available product check types will be based on your choice of No.2.
4. These are the configuration options that are specific to the product check type that you choose on No.3.
5. These are the general configuration options that always exist regardless of product check type.
6. To increase the certainty of your operator’s answer, you can make it mandatory for them to double-check their answer before proceeding to the next instruction step and/or finishing the work instruction. These configuration options always exist regardless of the product check type.
7. You can add additional notes (if needed).
8. When you’re done editing, click on “Add”. However, if you would like to proceed without saving, click on “Cancel”.

How to Add a Peripheral Preset to a Product Check #

After you’ve created a peripheral preset, you can use it on a product check (so you don’t need to manually configure that product check). Here’s how:

1. Navigate to a work instruction step where you would like to use that peripheral preset on, and click on “Open”.
2. Click the “Check” tab.
3. Select one of the available checks. Make sure that the product check type is the same as the product check type that you’ve selected on the peripheral preset configuration.
4. Click on the dropdown menu under “Peripheral group”, and select the corresponding peripheral group.
5. Click on the dropdown menu under “Peripheral preset (optional)”, and select the desired peripheral preset.
6. Click on “Yes”.
7. The options underneath will be automatically configured to match the peripheral preset. However, you can still edit it manually, if desired.

How to Edit a Peripheral Preset #

1. Click on “Peripherals” under “Management”.
2. Click on the “Presets” tab.
3. Click on the three-dot icon next to the peripheral preset that you would like to edit
4. Click on “Edit”.
5. After you’re done with your edits, click on “Save”.

How to See in Which Instruction Steps Is a Peripheral Preset Being Used #

1. Click on “Peripherals” under “Management”.
2. Click on the “Presets” tab.
3. Click on “Find Usages” next to the desired peripheral preset.
4. Scroll down, and you will see the list of instruction steps that are linked to that peripheral preset under “Instruction steps”. You can also click on any of them, and you will be redirected to its instruction step editor afterward.

How to Delete a Peripheral Preset #

1. Click on “Peripherals” under “Management”.
2. Click on the “Presets” tab.
3. Click on the three-dot icon next to the peripheral preset that you wish to delete.
4. Click on “Remove”.
5. Click on “Remove” again.
