Azumuta is a highly versatile platform. Countless peripheral devices can be integrated into your Azumuta platform to fulfill all of your shop floor needs.
Previously, we’ve shown you how to integrate a peripheral device into your Azumuta workspace. In this guide webpage, we will show you how to use a peripheral device.
In general, using a peripheral device takes 2 phases: creating a product check and using the peripheral device on that product check. We will explain both phases in the guide sections below.
We will use the example of using a temperature gun to show how peripheral devices work within Azumuta.
Note: At the moment, you can only use a peripheral device to complete a product check from a computer (be it a desktop computer or a laptop computer) or a Windows tablet.
Phase 1: Creating a Product Check #
In Azumuta, a peripheral device is meant to be used on a product check. Therefore, you will first have to create a product check. Here’s how:
- Navigate to the work instruction step where you would like to add a check into, and click on “Open”.
- Click the “Check” tab.
- Select one of the available checks. Make sure that the product check type is the same as the product check type that you chose when you were adding this peripheral device to your workspace.
- Select the peripheral group that you’ve previously added.
- Select the peripheral preset that you’ve previously added (if any).
- Fill out the rest of the product check configuration options (if needed).
Phase 2: Using the Peripheral Device on That Product Check #
A peripheral device is generally used by an operator that executes work instructions on the shop floor.
- Open the plugin that you’ve received from Azumuta. To get the plugin, please contact us through support@azumuta.com, as each peripheral device type requires a specific plugin.
- Navigate to the instruction step that requires you to use a peripheral device to complete a product check. Before using the peripheral device, make sure that the peripheral device’s status is “Connected with [peripheral device name here]”, as shown in the image below:
- Use the peripheral device to complete the product check. In the video, we used the example of using a temperature gun to measure an object’s temperature in the form of a number check. Thus, we aimed the temperature gun at the desired object to get its temperature. The temperature gun’s reading was automatically relayed to our computer, and it became our answer for this product check.
- Afterward, click on the send button. You will automatically proceed to the next instruction step.
Note: When using any peripheral device on Azumuta, please ensure that the plugin is always open. Don't close the plugin until you've finished using the peripheral device.
