Use a peripheral device

Using a peripheral device takes two parts: setting up a product check for the device, then using the device to answer that check on the shop floor. This assumes the device is already added to your workspace.

The examples below use a temperature gun.

Create a product check

A peripheral device answers a product check. Create one on the instruction step where the device will be used:

  1. Open the work instruction step where you want to add the check.
  2. Click the Check tab.
  3. Select a check of the same type you chose when adding the peripheral device.
  4. Select the peripheral group you added earlier.
  5. Select a peripheral preset, if you have one.
  6. Fill out the rest of the check's configuration.

Use the peripheral device on a product check

  1. Open the Hub (downloaded from Management → Peripherals → Hubs).
  2. Open the instruction step with the product check. Confirm the peripheral device's status shows Connected with [device name]: docs phase 2 using the peripheral on that product check
  3. Use the peripheral device to answer the check. For example, aim a temperature gun at the target: its reading is relayed to your computer and becomes the check's answer.
  4. Click Send. Azumuta moves you to the next instruction step automatically.

Note: Keep the Hub open for as long as you're using the peripheral device.

Disable a peripheral temporarily

If a peripheral is unavailable (for example during maintenance or a temporary connection issue), you can disable it so operators can still complete the related product checks by entering the answer by hand.

  1. Open the peripheral in Management → Peripherals (or edit it from the peripherals list).
  2. Tick Disable peripheral temporarily.

When this option is on, the peripheral's status shows as Temporarily disabled. Operators can then type the answer manually. This overrides the product check option Allow manually entering answer when that option would otherwise block manual entry.

To use the peripheral again, clear Disable peripheral temporarily and save.
