Link to Another Work Instruction or Instruction Step

In Azumuta, you can link an instruction step to another work instruction or to another instruction step. With this feature, an operator can access another work instruction or another instruction step with just a single click.

This feature helps streamline complex workflows by providing operators quick access to another work instruction or instruction step. It ensures accuracy by consistently referring operators to the same work instruction/instruction step whenever necessary.

Moreover, it also speeds up your workpace, as operators don’t need to search for a specific work instruction/instruction step manually.

Note: This feature is not enabled by default in all workspaces. If you're interested in this feature, please contact us through our support@azumuta.com email.

  1. Navigate to the instruction step where you would like to add the link into.
  2. Select the work instruction step that you would like to add the link into, and click on “Open”.
  3. Click on the “Visuals” tab.
  4. Click on “Add page”.
  5. Select either “Linked work instruction” or “Linked instruction step”.
  6. Select the desired work instruction or instruction step.

To open the link to another work instruction or another instruction step as an operator, simply click on the thumbnail, as shown in the video below:

Warnings When Archiving or Deleting a Linked Work Instruction

When other work instructions link to the work instruction you are about to archive or permanently delete, Azumuta shows a warning in the confirmation dialog and lists the affected work instructions.

The dialog states that the work instruction is linked from other work instructions, then lists each linking work instruction by name.

Archiving

  1. Start archiving the work instruction as usual (“Archive work instruction”).
  2. If other work instructions link to it, review the list in the confirmation dialog.
  3. Confirm with “Archive” to proceed, or cancel if you need to update those links first.

Permanently deleting

  1. Start deleting the work instruction as usual.
  2. If other work instructions link to it, review the list in the confirmation dialog.
  3. Type the exact name of the work instruction to confirm permanent deletion, then click “Delete permanently”.

If a linked work instruction (or a linked visual) is later archived or permanently deleted, link previews in the instruction step editor show a clear status instead of failing silently:

  • “Linked work instruction is archived”
  • “Linked work instruction has been deleted”
  • “Linked visual is archived”
  • “Linked visual has been deleted”

Update or remove the link when you see one of these states so operators are not directed to content that is no longer available.
