How to Display the Mandatory Training Indicator When Approving a New Version of a Work Instruction #
Some work instructions can be quite complex – to the point where any operator assigned to execute these work instructions must follow a training program beforehand.
As an admin, you can add a mandatory training indicator to a work instruction. Here’s how:
Note: Before following the procedure below, you will need to undertake an edit on a work instruction.
- Once you’re done editing, click on the “Approve work instruction” button.
- Make sure that the “This version requires training” box is ticked.
- Click on “Approve”.
Tip: By default, the "This version requires training" box is always ticked in all work instructions.
The Mandatory Training Indicator Seen from a Skill Matrix #
Whenever a work instruction has been updated, and the “This version requires training” box is ticked, a red dot will appear on the competency level of an operator that needs training. This red dot is the mandatory training indicator.
In the previous guide section, we updated the “Packing the Washing Machine Training” work instruction. As shown in the screenshot below, a red dot has appeared on all operators who require training for this work instruction. This is because, no operators have performed the required training needed in order to execute this work instruction.
- This is the work instruction that requires training. And none of the employees have completed the training needed to execute this work instruction. That’s why there’s a red dot on the competency level for each employee for this work instruction.
- If one or more red dots appear underneath, then there will always be a red dot on the average value of the competency level for that particular employee.
How to Remove a Mandatory Training Indicator #
The mandatory training indicator will disappear if any of the following is true:
- The employee has finished the required training. Click to learn how to plan a training and execute a training.
- The admin assigns a new competency level. Check out the video below to see how it works:
Note: When assigning a new competency level, it's possible that the new competency level be the same or even lower as the current competency level. For example, the current competency level is 3. After the training, you assigned the new competency level to be "2". Even though the new competency level is lower, the mandatory training indicator will still disappear afterward.
