How to Edit the Description of an Instruction Step #
The Description of an Instruction Step? What’s That? #
In Azumuta, each instruction step must have a description. An instruction step’s description generally contains a written command that an operator must follow when using that work instruction. Please take a look at the image below to see where you can find the description of an instruction step.
How to Edit the Description of an Instruction Step #
- Navigate to the instruction step description that you would like to edit, and click on it.
- Do the desired edits.
How to Change the Order of an Instruction Step #
- Navigate to the targeted work instructions step.
- Hover your cursor to the drag icon (left of the already existing instruction step).
- Click, hold, and drag the instruction step to desired location.
How to Delete an Instruction Step #
- Navigate to the instruction step that you would like to delete.

How to Copy an Instruction Step #

How to Paste an Instruction Step #
After you’ve copied the instruction step, the next step is to:
- Navigate to the targeted work instruction for where you would like to paste the content.
- Click on the three-dot icon (“More actions”) next to “Add instruction step” on an empty instruction step.
- Click on “Paste Special”.
- Select either “Paste as a copy” or “Paste as a reference”. We will provide an explanation of both possibilities below the video.
Paste as a Copy vs Paste as a Reference: What’s the Difference? #
Paste as a copy: The pasted instruction step is merely a copy of the original instruction step and nothing more. They are not linked in any way. When a change is made in the pasted instruction step, it will not happen in the original instruction step. Similarly, if a change has been made in the original instruction step, it will not happen in the pasted instruction step as well.
Paste as a reference: The pasted instruction step remains linked to the original instruction step. When a change is made to one of the linked instruction steps—be it the original or the pasted one—the change will also occur in all other linked instruction steps.
Note: You can also choose the option below as a quicker way to paste as a copy.
How to Duplicate an Instruction Step #
Besides copying & pasting an instruction step, you can also duplicate it. But how is duplicating an instruction step different from copying & pasting it?
In principle, duplicating an instruction step takes less time and effort than copying & pasting it. From the work instruction overview, it only takes 2 clicks to duplicate an instruction step. Afterward, the duplicated instructions step will immediately appear below the original instruction step. If desired, you can also move the instruction step around within the work instruction.
The duplicated instruction step has a similar characteristic to “Paste as a copy” (please refer to the guide section above). It’s not linked in any way to the original instruction step.
Here’s how to duplicate an instruction step:
- Navigate to the instruction step that you would like to duplicate.
- Click on the three-dot icon (“More actions”) next to the existing instruction step.
- Click on “Duplicate instruction step”.
