How to Use Parameters on an Image in a Work Instruction

To increase the precision of your work instructions, you can also directly write an article’s parameter formula to an image in a work instruction. That way, an operator can immediately see its parameter directly on the work instruction. Here’s how:

  1. Click on Quality Management in the homepage sidebar.
  2. Click on Quality Procedures.
  3. Click on an existing article category.
  4. Select the targeted work instruction.
  5. Go to the work instruction step where you would like to write the parameter formula on, and click on “Open”.
  6. Using a Text Box, input the parameter formula with the following format: ${Parameter key}. For example, in the video, the chosen parameter key is Paint_Type. Thus, we wrote ${Paint_Type} on the Text Box.
  7. Close the work instruction, and approve it.

Tip: You can add multiple parameter formulas to a work instruction's image.

This configuration can be viewed by operators on an activated product order. Here’s how to view it:

  1. Go to the targetted product order.
  2. Click on the targetted work instruction.
  3. Navigate to the work instruction step where the parameter has been added to.

In this video, the chosen parameter key is “Paint_Type”, and the answer is “Glossy”.

Note: This feature only works on work instructions that are linked to a product order.
